The group also criticized Tei's reference to 'systematic corruption' in Sabah, reminding him that standard procedures exist for lodging complaints with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Karim suggested that Tei could have refused to pay bribes and reported the situation, reinforcing the idea that integrity should not be a result of unethical practices.
In the Perspective Podcast, Tei claimed that his payments were labeled as political donations and that he was willing to 'shut up' if the RM8 million was returned. He aimed to position himself as a hero who sought to rectify administrative issues. However, Jais Karim warned that Tei's revelations were 'risky' and could be used against him in court, as podcasts are not a legal forum.
The timing of Tei's podcast appearance, with the Sabah election approaching, raised suspicions. Karim suggested that it might be a strategic move to promote anti-establishment narratives, which could benefit certain political factions.
