A new 'Sole Survivor' has been crowned! After a season of dramatic twists and turns, including a contestant's medical evacuation due to a venomous snake bite, Survivor celebrated its season 49 finale on December 17th.
Before the final tribal council, Kristina Mills and Rizo Velovic were eliminated, leaving Savannah Louie, Sophi Belerdi, and Sage Ahrens-Nichols to battle it out before the jury. Ultimately, Savannah was chosen by the cast to win the $1 million prize and the coveted title.
Savannah's reaction? Pure disbelief! "It feels incredible," she shared with host Jeff Probst, admitting she was at a loss for words, having never experienced anything like it.
The final three women, marking the first all-female final three since season 29 in 2014, faced a tense jury. They were grilled on how they outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted the competition. A notable moment was when Kristina asked Savannah to name a family member or partner of each jury member, a challenge Savannah didn't quite ace.
In the penultimate episode, emotions ran high as Steven Ramm was blindsided, despite using his "Block A Vote" advantage. This was due to Sage's alliance with Savannah, Rizo, and Sophi. Before that, Sophie Segreti joined the jury, which Sage saw as "revenge" for Sophie's role in eliminating her ally, Jawan Pitts.
But here's where it gets controversial...
As season 49 wraps up, excitement is building for Survivor's milestone 50th season. In May, Jeff revealed the returning cast for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, which includes fan favorites like Mike White, Dee Valladares (season 45 winner), and Kyle Fraser (season 48 champ).
And this is the part most people miss...
Cirie Fields, known as "the greatest player to never win," will also be on the next season. She's kept tight-lipped, but her enthusiasm is undeniable. "Best season ever," she declared, having watched since Richard Hatch won season one.
So, while we wait to see who will be crowned the winner of Survivor 50, the anticipation is definitely building.
