Oldham RLFC Club Statement: Addressing Recent Rumors and Disputes (2026)

A Statement from Oldham RLFC

Following recent media coverage and rumors, Oldham RLFC would like to address several matters that have been openly discussed in the public domain. Firstly, we confirm that club owner and Chairman Bill Quinn is currently facing a 12-month ban due to allegations made against him by the board of Oldham Athletic. Bill Quinn vehemently denies these allegations and has taken legal action by engaging his solicitors. The club stands firmly behind Bill Quinn.

Secondly, we want to reassure our supporters by refuting any claims of unpaid bills or financial difficulties. We are unaware of the source of these claims, which we believe to be disingenuous. The club is financially stable and has no outstanding debts.

The club is also involved in a contractual financial dispute with Oldham Athletic regarding the use of Boundary Park. Both parties believe they are owed revenues by the other. As per the contract's dispute resolution terms, Oldham RLFC has requested mediation. Any decision made by a mediator would be legally binding, and we are committed to adhering to their ruling.

However, Oldham Athletic has refused to engage in mediation and has stated that Boundary Park will remain unavailable until the financial dispute is resolved. This has resulted in the cancellation of the Law Cup game, leaving the dispute unresolved. In response, Oldham RLFC has contacted the local authority to seek assistance in resolving the matter. The club has also sought legal advice regarding the contractual dispute.

Due to the unavailability of Boundary Park, Oldham RLFC had to find an alternative venue for our Challenge Cup fixture against Orrell St James. Since securing a new venue, Oldham Athletic has proposed conditions for playing at Boundary Park, which the club deems unacceptable. As a result, we are currently unable to play at our home ground.

Despite the disappointment of having to play away from our borough, Oldham RLFC expresses gratitude to Stalybridge Celtic for their assistance in finding an alternative venue at short notice. The club encourages all supporters to show their support on Sunday afternoon at Bower Fold.

We hope that the matter regarding Boundary Park can be resolved amicably. However, we remain committed to our fans and are confident that the situation will be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
